Begin by releasing the tailgate and removing the liner if it's present. After that, take out the ten bolts holding the tailgate cover inside the tailgate and remove the entire cover. First, use the grease pencil to show where the actuator rods are connected to the control and then disconnect the rods. Take out two screws located at the back of the tailgate and with them, remove the control and the tailgate handle. Secure the tailgate handle and control to the tailgate, then put in both nuts and tighten them to 7 N.m (60 in.lbs.). Place the actuator rods back on the control using the reference marks made in advance. Cover the inside of the tailgate with your tailgate cover and then place all ten bolts and secure them tightly. Insert and attach the tailgate liner back onto the tailgate when you think it is necessary.
