Dodge Ram 1500 Van Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the rocker arm assembly on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
Before servicing the rocker arm assembly, take out the spark plug wires by pulling on the boot directly along the wires. After that, pull out the cylinder head cover and its gasket. Remove the rocker arm bolts and pivots as you go, setting them on a bench in the order they were taken out and then do the same with the push rods. Turn the crankshaft until the words "V6" are lined up with the TDC mark shown on the timing chain case cover at a distance of 147°. After pushing in the rods, fit the rocker arm and pivot assemblies and tighten the bolts of the rocker arm to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) torque. It's important to avoid rotating or cranking the engine until at least 5 minutes has passed after installing the rocker arms. After that, replace the cylinder head cover and attach the spark plug wires.
