How to service and repair the hood latch on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?

The first step is to open the hood and hold it open for service. Highlight the place where the latch will go on the upper radiator support using a grease pencil. Take out the nuts that are holding the hood latch to the upper radiator support. Unattach the cable from the hood latch and pull the hood latch off the vehicle. The hood latch goes on top of the radiator support and attach the hood latch release cable to the hood latch for installation. Line up the hood latch's latch with the reference markings and use nuts to fasten it to the upper radiator support tightening them each to a torque of 10 N.m (7 ft. lbs.). Next, take off the support part and finally shut the hood. Finally, work the hood latch and release cable, adjusting the latch if anything goes wrong.
