To perform maintenance and repair on the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS), first use a drain pan and raise the car so it is underneath the TRS. Set the transmission manual lever in the LOW detent which is furthest forward. Remove the wiring connector from the TRS, then take apart the two screws holding it in place on the bracket. Extract the TRS out of the bracket and afterward, get the TRS mounting bracket loose in the transmission case using Adapter 8581 and pull it out. Place the transmission manual shaft lever into manual LOW for installation, fit the TRS mounting bracket into the transmission and tighten it with Adapter 8581 to 34 Nm (300 in. lbs.). Attach the TRS in the mounting bracket so the wiring connector looks towards the front of the transmission, tighten the two screws to 3.4 Nm (30 in. lbs.) and ensure the sensor is working properly. Set the transmission manual shaft lever to PARK, connect the TRS wiring into place, lower the car and then fill the transmission up to the correct level.
