The first step is to take out the negative
Battery Cable and let the cooling system drain before you start repairs. It can be removed just by pulling back the
Water Pump. After that, remove the timing chain cover so that the slide bushings are still in place inside. Take off the oil pump retaining bolts and take the oil pump out. Loosen the vibration damper bolt by hand and install it lightly, then use a suitable socket and breaker bar to spin the
Crankshaft and put the timing marks together with the marks on the timing chain sprockets. Pull back the chain tensioner arm so its hole is lined up with the bracket's hole, then put the Tensioner Pin 8514 into the chain tensioner holes. Don't take apart the camshaft phaser because this can cause significant engine issues. With the retaining bolt off, remove both the timing chain and camshaft phaser, plus the crankshaft sprocket. See if the
Timing Chain Tensioner and timing chain guide shoes are worn and take them off for replacement when worn out. Before installing the chain tensioner's new version, disconnect the bolts and detach the previous timing chain tensioner. To replace the timing chain guide, remove its retaining bolts and take it out.
