Remove the transmission first, if you're working inside the vehicle and then proceed to remove the flexplate in order to work on the main bearing seal. This is worth noting: after the crankshaft oil seal is removed, it cannot be used again. The crankshaft rear oil seal tool, Special Tool 8506, needs to be pushed inside the seal as much as possible. Keep tightening the tool until you cannot turn it any more. Should the tool be applied in a wrong way on the very first attempt, it might get loose without detaching from the engine. After that, take out the crankshaft rear oil seal using Special Tool 8506.
