To clean the front outboard seat belt and retractor in Quad and Mega Cab models, first cut power to the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the negative
Battery Cable and leaving the power off for two minutes. Make sure all belts, buckles, attachment parts, retractors, tether straps and anchors are correctly installed and unharmed. Replace spoiled belts and tighten up all fasteners. To change, bring the front seat forward, take off the lower anchor cover and unscrew the anchor from beneath the seat cushion. Loosen the trim cover on the seat belt, remove the screw that holds the turning loop to the height adjuster and take out both trims from the B-pillar. First, unplug the yellow body harness connector from the seat belt tensioner initiator, next unclip the belt web guides from their anchors and finally remove the screws securing the upper and lower retractor brackets to the B-pillar. Remove the seat belt and retractor as one piece. When fitting the unit, insert it into the B-pillar so that the top retractor bracket fits snugly together and temporarily assemble the lower retractor bracket screw. Turn the screw on the upper retractor bracket to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) and tighten the screw on the lower bracket to 39 N.m (29 ft. lbs.). Push the belt web guide into place, join the yellow body wire harness and restore the lower and upper trims, opening up the turning loop. Place the seat belt loop on top of the height adjuster, set the screw tightly to 39 N.m (29 ft. lbs.) and cover the turning loop with a new piece of trim. The seat belt lower anchor must be mounted to the middle of the seat cushion, the screw tightened to 39 N.m (29 ft. lbs.) and the cover for this anchor reinstalled without the battery negative cable being connected, all prior to testing.
