Before servicing or repairing the lower ball joint, lift and secure the vehicle and remove both the wheel and tire at the front. Detach the tie rod end from the knuckle, then take out the disc brake caliper and rotor. Lift up the lower control arm and take out all the cotter pins and nuts from the ball joints. Screw the Ball Joint Remover C-3564-A while pressing it against the lower ball joint. If the joint won't separate, give the tool a tap with a hammer. Eliminate the ball joint seal and apply the right tool to push the ball joint out of its place in the lower suspension arm bore. During installation, put the ball joint into the lower suspension arm with your tool, then install the new seal over the ball joint using a socket. Set the steering knuckle on the lower ball joint, put the retaining nut on and tighten it to 183 Nm (135 ft. lbs.) for LD 11/16 bolt or 237 Nm (175 ft. lbs.) for HD 3/4 bolt. Next, set the outer tie rod end back in its place, add newly bought cotter pins and fix the rotor and disc brake caliper back. Lift the car into the air, fit the wheel and tire onto the hub, lower it and check the wheel alignment.
