How to service and repair the steering knuckle on Dodge Ram 3500 Van?

Raise the car off the ground and steadily jack it up from the lower suspension arm's outer end. Safely take off the wheel and tire assembly and after that remove the disc brake caliper and rotor. Take out the tie rod from the steering knuckle arm and remove both cotter pins and nuts from the upper and lower ball joints. Use Ball Joint Remover C-3564-A to separate the upper and lower ball joints from the steering knuckle and once they are apart, remove both the tool and the steering knuckle assembly. Remove the rotor dust shield and steering arm from the steering knuckle after that. Begin installation by joining the brake rotor dust shield to the steering knuckle and using a torque wrench to tighten all the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. Fix the steering arm to the knuckle and tighten both bolts to 294 Nm (217 ft. lbs.) for the LD 5/8 nut and 330 Nm (225 ft. lbs.) for the HD 3/4 nut. Attach the steering knuckle over the upper and lower ball joints, mount the nuts and tighten the top one to 183 Nm (135 ft. lbs.). Stiffen the LD nut with a torque force rated at 183 Nm (135 ft. lbs.) and the HD 3/4 nut requires 237 Nm (175 ft. lbs.). Attach the tie rod back to the steering knuckle arm, install the rotor and disc brake caliper and lift the wheel and tire assembly up before lowering the vehicle.
