It is necessary to lay out bleed tubes and use a wood dowel to stroke the pistons in the brake master cylinder, before replacing the old brake master cylinder on the vehicle. First, hold the brake master cylinder in a vise and insert each bleed tube into one of the cylinder outlet ports, then place the end into the reservoir. Fill up the reservoir with new brake fluid, press the cylinder pistons together using the dowel, then release them so that spring force can push them back into place. Repeat till you no longer see air bubbles in the fluid. Check that the engine is switched off, step on the brake pedal repeatedly to let the booster's pressure down, disconnect the brake lines from the brake master cylinder, unfasten the mounting nuts and pull the brake master cylinder away from the studs. The first step is to secure the brake master cylinder on the mounting studs, attach the mounting nuts, tighten them to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.), then position the brake lines, tighten them to 16 Nm (145 in. lbs.) and end by bleeding the base brake system.
