    Q: How to service the rear engine mount on Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
    A:
    Before working on the rear engine mount, lift the car using a hoist and use a transmission jack to raise the rear transmission and engine slightly. Take out the rear mount through-bolt and nut, remove the U-shaped bracket from the frame crossmember and get rid of the insulator on the bracket. After that, remove the rear engine support from the underside of the transmission extension housing. While installing, join the rear engine support to the transmission extension housing at its bottom and tighten the bolts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) of torque. Clamp the insulator over the U-shaped bracket and turn the nuts until the torque is 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Pass the bolt with a nut through the insulator and U-bracket assembly together with the rear engine support, then tighten the nut to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.). Reconnect the U-shaped bracket to the crossmember and fasten it with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque. Now, remove the transmission jack so the car can be lowered below.

    Before you work on the front engine mount, separate the negative cable from the battery and raise the hood to reveal enough space for the radiator's top tank and hose. Fit Engine Support Fixture Tool C-3487-A and lift the vehicle on a hoist. Lift the nuts and insulators from each bracket and raise the engine just so that you can remove the mounts from underneath. After lifting the engine an inch or two, put the insulators and brackets in place, then guide and hook the insulator studs into the holes in the crossmember and brackets as the engine lowers. Clamp the attaching nuts to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) torque and the bolts to 88 Nm (68 ft. lbs.). Drop the vehicle, remove the engine support fitting, replace the fan at its previous spot and join the negative battery cable once more.
