The first thing to do is take off the air cleaner assembly, then the air hose leading to the inlet and finally the cylinder head cover. Now, remove the rocker assembly and push rods and remember which ones they are for their correct installation. Remove the intake manifold, then take off the retainer and removing the two aligning yokes. Place the Hydraulic Tappet Remover/Installer Tool C-4129-a through the cylinder hole and seat it in the hydraulic tappet. Remove the tappet from the bore by twisting it and when all are being taken out, note each tappet for correct placement later. Should one of the tappets or cylinders show any scoring, scuffing or sticking, ream out the cylinder one size larger and fit a similar tappet. Rub the tappet with a suitable solution, rinse it with hot water and dry it using either a clean shop rag or compressed air. For installation, first apply Mopar Engine Oil Supplement (Or an equivalent) to the tappets, then insert them and the push rods where they originally were, with the oil feed hole pointing up in the tappets. Place the aligning yokes on the frame, with the Arrow pointed at the camshaft and secure with the yoke retainer, torqueing the bolts to a tightness of 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) Install all those again and make sure the air cleaner and its companion air inlet hose are also back where they should be. After starting the machine, keep the engine at a slight idle until all the hydraulic tappets are full of oil and have stopped making noise, to avoid hurting the valve components.
