To begin servicing and repairing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, you should detach the battery's negative cable. Take out the bolts holding the fan shroud retainer and set the shroud back on the engine, then remove the fan from the cooling system and the accessory drive belt. After that, remove the pulley and bolt along with the washer attached to the end of the crankshaft. Mount the bar and screw onto the Puller Tool Set C-3688, drive two bolts and washers through the tool and into the vibration damper, then pull the damper off the crankshaft. Set the vibration damper on the crankshaft and apply the mounting tool from Puller Tool Set C-3688 to put it into position. Put the crankshaft bolt and washer in place, tighten it to 244 Nm (180 ft. lbs.) and then fit the crankshaft pulley, with all pulley bolts secure at 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque. Replace the accessory drive belt and the cooling system fan and tighten the bolts used to attach them to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque. Then, put the fan shroud back on, add and tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (95 in. lb.) and connect the wires to the battery.
