Take away the negative battery cable, then remove whatever is in the cooling system. Remove the A/c compressor, generator and accessory drive bracket after that and continue with the air cleaner. Complete the Fuel System Pressure release procedure and cut off the fuel lines before draining the filter. If your car has them, unhook the accelerator linkage and kickdown cables from the transmission, plus unhook the speed control cable if you find it. Elbow the distributor cap out of the way and remove both sets of distribution wires, in addition to the heater indicator, coil and bypass hose the heater indicator sending unit wire from the Quadrajet carb, along with both heater hoses. Take out the ventilation and evaporation systems, then loosen the connectors of the intake manifold and pull the throttle body and manifold together out of the compartment. Remove the flange side gaskets and both cross-over gaskets and after removing the bolts from the throttle body, lift it off the manifold, discarding the gasket under it. If you have to, take out the plenum pan and gasket and throw away the gasket. Next, set up the new plenum gasket and carefully bolt down the plenum pan, ensuring the initial torque is 5.4 Nm (24 in. lbs.), the second torque is 9.5 Nm (84 in. lbs.) and the whole process ends by checking all bolts are tightly bolted to 9.5 Nm (84 in. lbs.). Put the new gasket on the intake manifold, attach the throttle body on top and tighten the bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) level. Apply enough Mopar Gen Ii Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or an equivalent on the four corners of the joint so that there's around 5mm (0.2 inch) of sealant. Slide both cross-over gaskets over the dowels and then add the flange gaskets so that Manifold Side is visible on every gasket and the flange aligns with the tabs on the cylinder head gasket. Carry the intake manifold to the block and don't move it until you have installed the alignment dowels in the gasket, also check the seals on the placement. Attach all the intake manifold bolts and fasten them, after which install the closed crankcase ventilation and the evaporation control components. Once the gasket is in place, reattach the coil wires, heat indicator sending unit wire, heater hoses and bypass hose and install the distributor cap and its wires. Insert the return spring and link the accelerator linkage, speed control and transmission kickdown cables if available. Install all the fuel lines, place the accessory drive bracket and A/c compressor and put the generator and drive belt in their places. Afterward, tighten the bolt on the generator mount to around 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). After that, add the air cleaner, finish filling the cooling system and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
