First, raise the car and put a drain pan where the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is located on the 46RE (A-518). Rotate the transmission until the manual LOW button is directly where your hand is, as it is the farthest forward of the detents. Take the wiring connector out of the TRS and remove the two screws holding it to the mounting bracket. Pull the TRS free from the bracket, then remove the TRS mounting bracket in the transmission case using Adapter 8581. Before you install, set the manual shaft on the transmission to LOW and fasten the TRS mounting bracket into the case after applying pressure and tightening it to 34 Nm (300 inch lbs.) with Adapter 8581. Pull the rear environment sensor wiring to the front of the transmission through the TRS and secure it inside the mounting bracket with the two screws tightened to 3.4 Nm (30 inch lbs.). Put the transmission manual shaft lever in PARK, link the TRS wiring back together, let the vehicle down and make sure the transmission is filled to the correct level.
