To start repairing or servicing the HVAC liquid line, take out the bag of filters, disconnect the negative battery wire and remove the refrigerant from the system. With the 2.4L Turbo engine, open the secondary retaining clip keeping the spring-lock coupler secured, then use the A/C line disconnect tool to decode the fitting from the
A/C Condenser. Unscrew the O-ring seals from the fitting and plug the open holes with tape or a stopper. Raise and brace the vehicle for any of the three engine types, then detach the liquid line nut and the line, along with its sealing O-ring from the A/C condenser, again covering any openings. reality Next, take off the bolt joining the receiver/drier to the engine
Coolant Reservoir, along with the bolt holding the refrigerant line retainer bracket to the right shock tower and carefully pull out the liquid line from the retainer bracket. Remove the fastener for the refrigerant line tapping plate, cut the connections of both suction and liquid lines from the
A/C Expansion Valve and also toss away the O-rings on their respective fittings. Get rid of the liquid line and receiver/drier assembly in the engine compartment. Place the liquid line back into the engine, set the receiver/drier assembly in position, sure any plugs or tape on the ports and fittings are gone, coat all new O-ring seals with refrigerant oil and put them on the fittings. Attach the liquid and suction line fittings to the A/C expansion valve, secure the tapping plate by tightening the nut to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.) and put the liquid line into its retainer bracket. Attach the retainer bracket to the shock tower with its bolt and the receiver/drier bracket to the engine coolant reservoir as well. Take off any plastic plugs or tape from the liquid line fitting and condenser port, apply some refrigerant oil to the new seal and attach it to the fitting. Install the liquid line and tighten its nut to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.) on the A/C condenser if your car has a 2.0L, 2.4L NA or 2.7L engine. On the 2.4L turbo engine, join the line fitting to the A/C condenser and then install the secondary retaining clip. When all is done, reconnect the negative lead to the battery, empty the refrigerant system and charge the system again.
