Dodge Stratus Shift Linkage Boot Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to remove and install the Shift Linkage Boot on an automatic transmission on Dodge Stratus?
    A:
To begin removing the automatic transmission shift boot, remove the shifter knob by removing its set screw and pulling the knob off. Do not use a trim stick or tool to disconnect the transmission range indicator. After that, remove the indicator bezel for the transmission range. This is done by pinching the sides slightly and lifting it up until the locking tabs are free of the floor console. If the component has one, unplug the electrical connector and remove the shift boot. In order to install the shift boot, position it correctly, and connect the wire connector for the transmission range indicator bezel on the bottom of the bezel. To install the transmission range indicator bezel, press the bezel down onto the upper assembly until the pins align with the hole in console. Reinstall the shifter knob, tightening the set screw to 3 N.m (23 in.lbs.).
