How to Service and Repair a Transmission Pan on Dodge Durango?

Once the fluid pan needs service or repair, start by washing it and the magnet using proper solvents. After that, take a good gasket scraper and scrape away the original sealing from the suface of both the transmission case and the transmission pan.

How to Service and Repair a 45RFE Automatic Transmission Pan on Dodge Ram 1500?

For this job, make sure the vehicle is raised on safety stands and before taking off the pan, place a wide, shallow pan below it to catch the fluid. Unbolt the front and side of the pan to the transmission, but leave the rear bolts still snug. Gently pull the transmission hose off the front of the unit so that the drain fluid can empty into the pan. As soon as the fluid is gone, lift the pan and eliminate the remaining screws. As you keep the pan steady, move it far from the transmission and empty the last of the fluid into your drain pan. Following that, remove the screw keeping the filter attached to the valve body and take out the filter, draining any fluid into the drain pan. Get rid of the oil filter seal from the bottom of the oil pump. If you are changing the cooler return filter, use Oil Filter Wrench 8321 to get the filter out of the transmission. Don't forget to follow the instructions for removal and disposal of the old transmission fluid and filters.
