  Found on top of the timing chain case, with the Water Pump below and the Throttle Body above, is the camshaft position sensor. First, separate the sensor harness from the connector, draw a line at the depth where the sensor mounts and then loosen the bolt. Gently lift out the sensor from the timing chain cover and get it out of the vehicle with two small screwdrivers. Examine the o-ring of the sensor and coat it with a little engine oil before adding it to the engine. Set the sensor properly to be at its correct depth so that it doesn't come into contact with the camshaft gear when installed in the engine. Turn the rotating cam gear as required to place the high machined area near the sensor mounting hole opening. Set the metal ruler to 1/2 wide and measure from the cam gear to the face of the sensor hole; when the distance is roughly 1-15/32 inches, the sensor can be installed. With a dimension of 1-5/8 inches or more, rotate the engine using the plate bolt socket to get the crankshaft ignition 1-15/32 inch dimension. Replace the sensor inside the timing case/cover by rocking it until it lines up exactly with the scribe dot, with a paper spacer for a used sensor. After that, mount the sensor using the bolt, ensuring it is tightened to 10.7 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque and connect the needed engine wiring harness.
