Dodge Viper Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on Dodge Viper?
    A:
To do a turn signal switch repair, first break the connection at the negative terminal of the battery. Kick out the tilt steering linkage and unclip the knee blocker/lower steering column trim. After that, take both the upper and lower shrouds off the steering column and then remove the lower fixed column shroud. Turn the upper bracket nuts slightly, but leave them securely fastened. Move the upper fixed column shroud to reach the multi-function switch at the back and then use a tamper proof Torx Bit TTXR2OB2 to remove the tamper proof mounting screws. Pull the switch a bit away from the column, remove the screw from the connector and break the connection between the wire harness and the multi-function switch. For turning off, unscrew the multi-function switch connector screw to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), multi-function switch retention screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) and the upper bracket nuts on the steering column to 12 Nm (110 in. lbs.).
  • Q: How to Remove the Dimmer Switch on Dodge Viper?
    A:
Unscrew the four bolts underneath the battery box, then remove the cover once you have opened the deck lid. Take out the battery negative connector and then take off both shrouds around the steering column. After that, remove the connection for the posi-lock harness at the back of the multi-function switch. Unscrew the multi-function switch from its mounting place. You have to relocate the windshield wiper/washer switch to the new multi-function switch after removing it following the instructions.
