Install the shock assemblies on a coupe with the remote canister in the left and right steering spindles, turning it about 12 degrees inward and toward the front end of the vehicle. The initial rear ACR adjustable shock assembly settings are Compression = Position 13 and Rebound = Position 17, set by turning the adjustment knobs clockwise to the top and then counterclockwise to whatever position you like. With standard shock assemblies, you can put the rear shock clevis bracket on either side without concern, but it's advisable to make sure the lower seat step is inboard. To get started, put the shock assembly in its mounting position, insert the clevis bracket end into the bottom of the
Wheelhouse, lift the top of the shock through the hole and align it with the mounting hole on the frame. Fit the bolt and nut into the top of the shock, check they are in place by pushing down, but do not tighten them, then put the clevis bracket on the isolator in the lower control arm and fasten with the bolt and nut, still without tightening. Set the wheel and tire onto the car, gradually tighten the mounting nuts to 100 ft. lbs. or 135 Nm, let the car lower and fit the shock service plug. Shuttle the carpet back over the back seat, set the B-pillar trim in place, make sure the
Fuel Tank is full and remove all aftermarket items from the rear and luggage areas. Put the vehicle on an alignment rack, measure tire pressure and follow the instruction for the standard shock or for ACR adjustable shock settings. For the standard shock assembly, take off the belly pan, get the rear wheels and tires off the ground and then remove the wheel/tire assemblies from the rear. Set up the Suspension Height Stands, check that the wheel bolts are secure, bring the car down until you see the rear pins and place 150 pounds of weight on top of the seat cushions. Shake the car a few times, measure the height of the rear design and compare your results to written guidelines. Should the height exceed Jaguar's requirements, try to bounce lightly low and check over again to fix any rubber bushing mount issues. Secure both bolts in the shock assembly upper mount and the clevis bracket to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Restore the ride height to curb, install the rear wheelhouse splash shield, gather and remove special tools, raise the rear end, install the wheels and tires and gradually tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Adjust the ACR damper in the same way, adjust the spring height as needed and carefully jounce the vehicle to adjust the ACR shock height.
