Start by pushing the
Clock Spring wiring leads through the back of the steering wheel's hole. Make sure the wide side of the steering wheel mounting spline fits into the missing part of the shaft and then push the wheel on, confirming the Clock Spring ends up behind the back of the steering wheel and doesn't block its movement. Once the steering wheel is aligned, install the retaining bolt and tighten it till the wheel and shaft are tight together on the torque wrench, reading 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, place the
Air Bag near the Clock Spring wiring and link the horn switch wiring connector. Join the squib wires and the driver air bag, matching the end colors, by inserting each clip straight in and getting a good snap into place to ensure a secure link. Screw the squib wiring routing clips onto the steering wheel. Lay the driver air bag into place and install the three screws, turning them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). You should not connect the battery ground cable until you have completed the air bag System Test or you may be in danger of an accident or injury. The battery ground terminal should be reconnected once the test is finished and then check that all steering wheel-mounted components are working.
