How to Replace the Door Lock Actuator in Front, Rear, and Liftgate Door Latch Units on Jeep Cherokee?

Any fault or damage to the front door power lock motor means the entire latch unit must be changed. Just like the power lock for the pass doors, the motor in the rear door latch is linked to it, so a broken motor means replacing the whole latch. The first step for the liftgate is to isolate the battery negative, then open and remove the Liftgate trim panel. Get to the first link from inside the liftgate and manually pull it out to unclip it from the motor. Then, remove the two screws holding the motor to the panel. Pull the power lock motor so far out that you reach the wire harness connector and can separate it from the motor. Once the power lock motor is removed from the liftgate, flip the installation instructions and tighten the screws on its bracket to 3 Nm (28 in. lbs.).

Connect and remove the negative battery cable, after which open the liftgate and take out the liftgate trim panel.
