Jeep Commander Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Are Front Coil Springs Installed on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Before installing the front coil spring, compress it in the first place. After that, add the lower isolator. Put the shock into the coil spring so that the jounce bumper is attached to the shock rod. You should then fit the upper isolator. The nub hole in the upper shock plate should be 180° directly opposite the hole in the bracket at the bottom of the shock. Subsequently, fit the upper end of the shock, then tighten the nut at the upper mount to 39 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Take the spring out of the compression device and remove the shock from it. Then, place the shock assembly into position in the chassis.
  • Q: How to Safely Remove Front Coil Springs on Jeep Commander?
    A:
First, follow the correct steps to remove the front Shock Absorber and then take out the coil spring. After that, install the shock assembly in the Branick 7200® spring removal/installation tool or any similar tool. Press or turn the spring down and get rid of the top shock nut while doing so. The nub on the upper shock mount should be placed 180° opposite the centerline of the lower bracket for the shock to be installed correctly. Then, remove the shock and after that, take out the shock upper mount. Lastly, get rid of and review both the upper and lower spring isolators which are numbered 5 and 7.
