Properly adjusting the level of refrigerant oil during A/C service protects the system and stops the compressor from getting damaged. In the event the A/C compressor fails inside the vehicle, the A/C accumulator needs to be replaced to protect the compressor. If you are installing several A/C parts at once, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to find out how much oil to apply. Add only 30 milliliters (1.0 fluid ounce) of the refrigerant oil if the A/C accumulator is the only part replaced. Whenever a refrigerant line is opened, remember to put in a new rubber O-ring and a metal gasket. Install the accumulator mounting bracket (10) and then tighten the retaining bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Instead of putting tape or plugs in, remove what has been placed in the opened refrigerant line fittings and accumulator ports. Insert all new rubber O-ring seals onto the suction line and accumulator fittings, apply clean refrigerant oil and finish the installation with new gaskets. Always connect the upper A/C suction line to the accumulator inlet tube and add a retaining nut, adjusting it to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) firmly. Attach the A/C accumulator (1) to the mounting bracket with the retaining band (6) and bolt (5), but be sure the bolt is secured to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). After removing both connectors from the lower A/C suction line and accumulator outlet tube, push them together and secure them with the retaining nut (7), tightening to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Attach the front of the right front wheel house splash shield (3) to the body (4), then place the three push-pin retainers (1) and three screws (2) and tighten the screws using your hand. Slide in the proper wheel, bring the vehicle to ground level and once more attach the negative
Battery Cable. Make sure to turn the engine off or stop using the vacuum pump, before the compressor is damaged by a vacuum in the A/C system. Withdraw all refrigerant from the system and, if the A/C accumulator is being replaced, add 30 ml (1.0 fluid ounce) of oil. For all the main components to be replaced in a car, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for the required amount of oil. The last step is to charge the refrigerant in your system.
