Make sure the tires are facing forward and remove the negative
Battery Cable, making sure no air bag is accidentally deployed. Leave the air bag system capacitor to discharge for two minutes. Following that, take out the driver air bag (3) and unplug the wiring connector (2) from the
Clock Spring. After seizing the steering wheel, unbolt (remove) the bolt (2) holding the steering wheel to the steering column shaft. After connecting the wheel puller to the steering wheel base, set the retaining bolt about 13 mm (0.5 in.) back into the shaft from the other end. Taking out screw (3) for the speed control switch allows you to insert the steering wheel puller tool which you then install. Make sure not to hit or bang on the steering wheel or the shaft during removal of this part. Keep your hands on the steering wheel as you use the puller to lift it out from the steering shaft and then remove the bolt which holds the wheel into place (2).
