When serving the alternator, first take out the battery's negative cable and take off the belt connecting the generator and accessories. For INA, slide Special Tool #8823 (VM.1048) into the decoupler and check if the generator shaft end is had has a hex shape or splined shape. On a hex bolt, slide a socket with a 10mm diameter and 8mm deep into tool #8823; on a splined bolt, use either a 5/16" 6-point hex or 10mm 12-point triple square tool, swapping for the socket. Since the generator shaft is threaded right-hand, turn the protruding end of your wrench anti-clockwise and unthread the decoupler by hand. Just like before, for the Litens decoupler, begin by unplugging the negative
Battery Cable and taking out the generator and accessory
Drive Belt. Place Special Tool #8433 into the decoupler and insert the hex end into the generator's shaft. Just as with the INA decoupler, twist the end of the tool clockwise to release the decoupler from the generator threads, then unscrew it yourself.
