How to Maintain and Fix Front Coil Springs on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Raise and support the vehicle with a hydraulic jack under the axle, then remove the front passenger side tire to get access to the spring. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies, next come off the stabilizer bar links mounting nuts and bolts fixed to the axle brackets and finally, the shock absorbers lower mounting nuts from the same brackets. After that, take out the track bar mounting bolt from the axle bracket and lower the axle until the spring is loose from the upper mount and isolator, then pull off the spring from your vehicle and check both spring isolators. Put the upper isolator in place and slot the lower isolator with the locator nub into the axle pad hole. Lay the coil spring on the axle spring pad so that its end faces the isolator spring locator. Lift the axle higher and push the springs on top of the spring mount brackets. Insert the shock studs bolt into the axle brackets on each side and put on the shock absorbers lower nut. Bind the stabilizer bar link to the bracket on the axle using the supplied mounting bolts and nuts and fit the track bar to the bracket same as the stabilizer bar by using the provided mounting bolt. After that, tighten all suspension parts to the proper torque, mount the wheel and tire sets again and drop the vehicle by removing the support.

How to Service Front Coil Springs on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

First raise and support your vehicle and after that, remove the wheels and tires to service the front coil spring. Set a hydraulic jack under the axle and remove the nuts on the shock absorbers from the brackets on the axle. After that, take out the track bar mounting bolt from the axle bracket to avoid the lower part of the shock applying torque to the brake lines next to the axle's lower mount. After pulling down the lower part of the axle, free the spring from the upper mount and isolator and next, remove it from your vehicle for inspection. Put the upper isolator into place and then the lower isolator with its nub in the hole of the axle pad. Attach the coil spring to the axle spring pad so that its coil is against the end of the lower isolator and the isolator spring locator. With the axle raised, mount the springs to the upper mounts and drop the shock studs onto the brackets and finally put on the lower nut for each shock absorber. Pin the track bar back onto the axle bracket and make sure the bolt stays in place; you may have to pull the axle out of the way to fix its position. After taking out the hydraulic jack, tighten each suspension part to the set torque, fit the wheel and tire onto the axle again and remove the support stand to drop the car down.
