First, cut off and separate the air bag system's main negative power cable from the battery. Afterward, let the system capacitor discharge for two minutes. Pull forward on the upper edge of the cover to disconnect the clips and then remove the screw on the bottom to free the cover. Unplug the two connectors on each side at the bottom of the power box and then reach into the back and unplug the top side connector. Loosen the screws at the join, then lift the top out by pushing the screws toward the baseboard while pulling on it to unlock the two bottom clips. Lift the section out of the trunk at the bottom below the instrument panel. After you have the new fuse box, move each of the fuses, circuit breakers and relays from the inoperative unit to the right place inside the new box. Match the fuse box to its spot with the lower tabs fitted in the bracket's slots and the top snap clips in the mounting slots. Hold the fuse box tightly as you push it into the bracket and snap each clip in. After that, tighten the four screws to a screwdriver torque of 2 N.m (20 in. lbs.). Now, connect the top side wire harness connector and both bottom side cables to the fuse box. Leave the steering column opening area open for now and replace the engine block cover by locking the screw and pressing down the top to fit the retaining clips.
