The ignition coil assembly needs to be replaced as a single group of three coils connected on one rail. The spark plugs are sealed with six rubber boots, all containing springs for electrical contact. Before taking out the ignition coil, remove the negative
Battery Cable from the battery's terminal. Four bolts hold the coil to the cylinder head; you need to remove them. Work each end of the coil assembly to carefully separate it and to remove any rubber boots you can't free by hand, use a spark plug boot removal tool. Once the coils are loosened from the spark plugs, pull a connector straight out to gain access to the main electrical part, then press the little release tab on the connector while pulling the connector out of the coil itself. Following removal, fit the rubber boots over the spark plugs and push down on the coil assembly until its bolt bases reach the head of each cylinder. Place the four bolts, tighten them a bit first and finally torque them to 29 Nm (250 in. lbs.), making sure to tighten every other one properly. Next, connect the engine harness to the coil, push it until the slide tab is securely straight (between the engine and coil) and finally reattach the negative battery cable.
