How to Remove and Install an Ignition Lock Assembly on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Before taking out the key lock cylinder, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Clear the switch bezel from the plastic by sliding the plastic trim tool down its edge. Put the switch in the ON position and push on the right side release tab to take out the key lock cylinder from the switch housing. To remove the cylinder, pull the key lock out first. Position the ignition key in the lock cylinder and spin it so the "ON" mark appears and allows the side retaining tab to be depressed. Make certain that the shaft on the key lock cylinder is in line with the end socket so the socket is switched to "ON." Place the key lock cylinder over the matching grooves in the housing and put the cylinder in the housing until the release tab protrudes through the opening. Attach the bezel as the final step and then plug in the negative battery cable.

How to Remove and Install the Ignition Lock Assembly on Jeep Liberty?

Before taking out the ignition key cylinder, place the key into the key cylinder first. If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, turn the shift lever to PARK mode. Start with the lower shroud cover, take out the R.K.E. module next and finish by removing the halo ring from the cylinder. Change the switch handle to ON and you will find the release tang on the bottom of the key cylinder. Pull the key cylinder out of the steering column by pushing the pin punch up as you access the bottom tang hole with a small screwdriver. Pull open the key cylinder, add the key and turn it until it clicks. First, insert the key to the proper position, then set the halo ring onto the housing and lastly install the R.K.E. module and lower shroud cover onto the key cylinder.

Start with the lower shroud cover, take out the R.K.E. module next and finish by removing the halo ring from the cylinder. Change the switch handle to ON and you will find the release tang on the bottom of the key cylinder. Pull the key cylinder out of the steering column by pushing the pin punch up as you access the bottom tang hole with a small screwdriver. Pull open the key cylinder, add the key and turn it until it clicks. First, insert the key to the proper position, then set the halo ring onto the housing and lastly install the R.K.E. module and lower shroud cover onto the key cylinder.
