How to service and repair the Backing Plate on a 198 RBI axle on Jeep Liberty?

The wheel and tire assembly of the 198 RBI axle should first be removed, followed by the brake drum and brake shoes, to service and repair the backing plate. Remove parking brake cable from the parking brake lever by compressing the parking brake cable retainer tabs and pushing the retainer and cable through the support plate. To remove the wheel cylinder from the support plate, the brake line at the wheel cylinder should be disconnected. Thereafter, take off the four bolts on the support plate to the axle. Then take out the support plate with the axle, bearing, and seal. After that take out the axle shaft. To install, position the support plate on the axle flange and tighten to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) Place the axle, bearing, and seal into the casing, tightening the four bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) torque. Reattach the wheel cylinder and connect the brake line to it. Place the parking brake cable in support plate then connect to lever on secondary shoe. Finally, fit brake shoes on support plate. Using the brake gauge, adjust the shoes to the drum, and reinstall the brake drum and wheel and tire assembly. Bleed the brake system finally.
