The Body Control Module (BCM) is an essential part helping to prove that the Jeep Liberty, a compact SUV manufactured by Jeep from 2002 to 2012, was reliable and performed well. This central computer professionally controls the electrical function of the car and other important aspects like power control windows, mirrors, air condition, and control of locks among others. As a vehicle bus-based part of the Jeep Liberty, the Body Control Module provides a connection between various computers on the bus, causing the enhancement of these systems' operations and increasing the convenience of driving for people onboard automobiles. The Body Control Module works in a way that can coordinate numerous Jeep Liberty variants, spanning both generations, and adds to the vehicle's safety and fuel efficiency, besides managing new features such as ESC, Traction control, and improved airbags. These attributes do serve to provide enhanced driving quality while at the same time making it synonymous with reliability. Additional, Body Control Module is quite distinguished in the present market for its efficient and durable build, ensuring the electrical add-on devices of a car are in proper working order. Due to its responsibility for triggering relays for operations such as door locking and generation of light, the Body Control Module is crucial in the vehicle's operational foundation. Altogether, the Body Control Module is a perfect example of the brand's adherence to the high quality and the company's focus on innovation; that is why the component is crucial for the Jeep Liberty story.

Jeep Liberty Body Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is the Body Control Module (BCM) serviced on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
Globally, before servicing the Body Control Module (Bcm), first turn off the vehicle's air bag system by isolating the battery negative cable for two minutes. Before putting in a new Bcm, use your Drbiii scan to save the current programmable settings and axle ratio/tire size from the Bcm, so they can be copied over to the new Bcm. First, detach the negative Battery Cable and afterward, disconnect the Junction Block Module (Jbm) from the bracket on the driver side end of the instrument panel. After that, unscrew the four screws connecting the Bcm to the Junction Block and carefully take out the Bcm. If your car is fitted with a Remote Keyless Entry (Rke) system, take the Rke module out of the Bcm receptacle. If there is an Rke system in the car, replace the Rke module into the Bcm connector on the Jb, place the Bcm on the Jb and fasten it using the four screws, secure them at 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.). Reattach the Jbm to the driver side of the instrument panel end bracket, reconnect the battery negative cable and control panels.
  • Q: How to Properly Install and Program a Body Control Module (BCM) on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
The first thing you should do is shut down the supplemental restraint system by taking the negative Battery Cable out and isolating it before waiting two minutes for the air bag system capacitor to drain. Prior to replacing the BCM, use a diagnostic scan tool to find the settings for electronic pinion factor, cabin equalization curve, country code and Remote Keyless Entry systemurches. You'll need to enter these settings into the new BCM before returning the vehicle to service. Attach the BCM and JB such that they connect at the available connector found at the BCM and JB interface. Secure the BCM to the JB with four screws, to a tightness of 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Replace the Junction Block Module (JBM) on the instrument panel end bracket and secure the battery negative cable to the loop on the JBM. When fitting a new BCM for a 2007 model car, use the 2007 model number following the procedure for Update Model Year 2007 in the BCM/Body Control Module menu item.
