Be sure to turn off the system and wait for it to cool before loosening the radiator draincock during service of the thermostat. Empty your coolant into a safe container for reuse only if it is clear and clean. Consult your manual to ensure that only the appropriate thermostat type (3) for your vehicle is provided. Connecters must start by disconnecting the battery's negative cable at the battery, following by draining the cooling system and lifting the vehicle with a hoist. Unscrew the splash shield, then take off the lower radiator hose clamp and the lower radiator hose at the
Thermostat Housing. After that, take out the bolts that secure the thermostat housing, lift out the housing and then take the thermostat out. Before installing, wipe the mating surfaces of the timing chain cover and thermostat housing. After that, slide the thermostat (sprung end down) into the depth of the housing groove which also impresses the rubber seal accordingly. Put the thermostat housing in place, attached to the timing chain cover and torque the two housing-to-cover bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Then, fix the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing, place the splash shield back in place, raise the car, put liquid into the cooling system and link the battery's negative cable to the car. Once done, turn the engine on and inspect itsmathsfor any leaks.
