While installing the serpentine belt, make certain that it runs correctly, so the Water Pump won't rotate backward and create engine overheating; use the routing label found in the engine compartment to guide you. After that, connect the generator Drive Belt, push Field Wire Connector 2 onto the generator's lead and secure the B+ terminal to the generator's mounting stud using the proper torque. Last, put the plastic cover 1 onto the B+ terminal and attach the negative Battery Cable to the battery.
- Q: How to Service and Repair an Alternator on a 3.8L Engine on Jeep Wrangler?A:Check the battery, take out the negative cable and connect a ground wire after that. Also, take off the Drive Belt for the generator and then remove bolts numbered 1 and 3 and the nut found at number 2. Open the plastic cover connected to the B+ terminal and take out the nut from the B+ cable output mount to unplug the generator from that end. After that, push the connector tab at the back of the generator to disconnect the field wire. Remove the generator from inside the vehicle at last.
