This sealing mechanism is applied to help maintain the lubrication of the camshaft, and hence contribute to efficiency of the motor. Decades of manufacturing Jeep Wrangler demonstrate that several types of Camshaft Seals were implemented to serve this safeguard role. Where these kinds of style differ from one another is not described in detail, however, what is in focus is their effectiveness in protecting the engine from several elements which would otherwise reduce the Jeep Wrangler's performance, therefore increasing on its durability. The Camshaft Seal is one of the most important parts that play a definite and very significant role in the Jeep Wrangler's engine health.

Jeep Wrangler Camshaft Seal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Camshaft Seal on Jeep Wrangler?
    A:
The first step to handling camshaft oil seal repairs is to take out the Timing Belt. Hold every camshaft sprocket using Special Tool 6847 and as you do, take out the center bolt and remove the camshaft sprockets. Then, take out the exhaust camshaft target ring and the associated sensor, checking them for wear; clean the sensor surface, check for cracks and then put in a new spacer pad. Remove the cover over the rear timing belt, then use Special Tool C-4679-a to fetch out the camshaft seal without damaging the seal. Prior to installation, rub the shaft seal surface clean with 400 grit paper if it is stained, dirty or damaged. Insert the camshaft seals into the cylinder head, using Special Tool Md-998306, until they reach the surface of the head. Put the timing belt rear cover back in place so that the target ring tab snaps right onto the camshaft. Set in place the exhaust camshaft target ring with Front as the first letter you see and then put in the exhaust camshaft sensor. Keep each camshaft sprocket in place and tighten the center bolt to 101 Nm (75 ft.lbs.) with Special Tool 6847. After that, place the timing belt and front covers before closing the engine.
