You should first remove the
Crankshaft oil seal so that the oil pump will engage correctly while installing the timing chain. Be sure that both mating surfaces of the chain case cover and cylinder block are clean and never put sealer on the cover gasket. Put the new gasket (1) onto the
Timing Cover (2) so that 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) of the gasket is visible below the edge of the cover. With the drive flats on the crankshaft facing up, place the inner rotor inside the oil pump until the mating flats align with those on the crankshaft to ensure no major damage happens during operation. Place the timing cover on the engine and use the cover bolts to tighten the M8 bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and M10 bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Following that, mount the
Oil Pan, crankshaft front oil seal and crankshaft vibration damper. Connect the coolant hoses, next place the
Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP), A/C compressor, oil level indicator tube, generator (3),
Power Steering Pump (1) and accessory drive belt with idler pulley. After filling the engine oil tank, put in the air cleaner assembly and hose (1), then fill the cooling system and connect the negative battery cable at last.
