2000 Dodge Caravan Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: You will find the Camshaft Position Sensor in the back area of the cylinder head. First, remove the filtered air tube from all its connections: the throttle body, air cleaner housing and oil separator hose, before removing it. After that, take out the air cleaner inlet tube and disconnect the engine harness connector from the Camshaft Position Sensor. With the wires out, un screw and pull out the sensor. Slacken the screw holding the target magnet to the camshaft's rear end. After putting the target magnet on the camshaft's end, make sure that the dowels fit into the offset holes and tighten the mounting screw to 5.65 Nm (50 in. lbs.) of torque. Set a fresh O-ring in place on the sensor, insert the Camshaft Position Sensor and secure the mounting bolts to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.) torque. Tag the harness connector to the Camshaft Position Sensor and afterward, replace the air cleaner inlet tube and the filtered air tube.
