2000 Dodge Caravan Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Downstream Oxygen Sensor 1/2 on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: Be careful to lift and support the vehicle before removing the Oxygen 1/2 sensor, because the exhaust manifold can be very hot. With the grommet cover taken off, press the locking tab and remove the connector from the oxygen sensor. Use either Snap-On YA8875 or an alternative tool to remove the sensor. Once you've removed the exhaust manifold, use an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap to clean the threads. If you're reusing the sensor, you should coat the threads with Loctite 771-64 or a similar anti-seize compound. Installation of new sensors is easy because their coating already contains the required compound. Affix the sensor, tighten it to 27 Nm (20 ft lbs.), insert the electrical connector, put on the grommet and lower your vehicle back to the floor.
