2000 Dodge Caravan Engine Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: What Steps Should Be Taken Before Replacing the Engine Control Module for a Failed Driver, Control Circuit, or Ground Circuit on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: Examine the related Pcm component and circuit before you replace the Pcm, as many Pcm driver/control circuit failures are caused by inside component issues such as 12-volt pull-ups, drivers and ground sensors. Begin by programming the Pcm with the Vin, next replace and program all vehicle keys to the new Skim. Programming the 'secret key' into the Pcm is vital any time you are replacing the Pcm, because it holds the unique Id from the Skim, engine controller and transponder used in the ignition key. Start by putting the car in Park or Neutral and pushing the ignition On. From the Drb, choose "Theft Alarm," Skim the entries and then Miscellaneous until you see "Pcm Replaced." To use secure access, enter your vehicle's four-digit Pin. If your Pin is entered wrong three times, secured mode will lock out for an hour, allowing you to leave lockout mode by turning the ignition to Run for 60 minutes and entering the correct Pin after a full hour once all accessories are off and before the battery level falls too low. After that, press "Enter" to transmit the secret key and the Skim will deliver it to the Pcm.
