2000 Dodge Durango Steering Column Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Steering Column Cover on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Before taking off the steering column opening cover, you have to switch off the air bag system by removing and isolating the battery negative cable and then wait for two minutes. After that, lie under the left end of the instrument panel to get the park brake release link clip and unsnap it from the handle. Take out the three screws connecting the bottom of the steering column opening cover to the instrument panel support. With the C-4755 or similar trim stick, gently lift up on the upper edge of the steering column opening cover just below the cluster bezel on each side of the wheel and as the snap clip retainers unlock from the base of the trim, remove the cover. For installation, tilt the steering column opening cover downward to the instrument panel and push the snap clip retainers onto the receptacles in the instrument panel base trim. Firmly push on the cover at the snap clip areas, so only the grooves are visible. Screw in the three screws that fasten the lower border of the cover to the frame and after that slide under the left part of the instrument panel and connect the back of the park brake handle to the release link with the clip. After that, link the battery negative end to the engine block.
