2000 Dodge Durango Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Wiper Arm on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Before changing the wiper arm, it's important to first open the hood of the vehicle. Take care to lift the cap off the plastic nut at the wiper arm's pivot, then twist and unscrew the nut that is connecting the wiper arm to the pivot. Pull off the wiper arm from the wiper pivot using a battery terminal puller. For successful installation, keep the wiper motor in Park, set the arm and blade up so their front and back edges are parallel to the wiper markings along the top (about 15 mm/0.59 inches) of the lower glass behind the windshield and then tighten both nuts on the arm with a torque wrench. Put in the wiper arm pivot nuts, then tighten them to 24 Nm (212 in. lbs.). With the glass wet, move the wiper switch to OFF and look at how the wipers sit on the glass; change their position if necessary. After that, place the plastic nut caps onto the ends of the arm pivot nuts. Remove the plastic cap covering the nut at the rear wiper motor output shaft end, withdraw the nut holding the wiper arm to the shaft and pull the arm off using a battery terminal puller. Make sure the center of your wiper blade is located between where the lower blackout part of the rear window ends and the lower trademark. After placing the wiper arm, screw in the nut to a torque of 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.). Operate the rear wiper when the rear window glass is wet, turn the switch to the OFF position, check the position of the wiper arm and fix anything that's not correctly angled. Put the plastic nut cap on top of the nut on the rear wiper motor spindle.
