2000 Dodge Durango Wiper Blade Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Wiper Blades on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Do not interchange the wiper blades, since the driver side comes with an extra bridge and has eight claws and the passenger side only has six claws. The notched area of both wiper elements should be positioned closest to the wiper pivot. Set the windshield wiper switch to the ON position and use your finger to hit the wiper control buttons a couple of times which will put the blades to a workable spot. Raise the wiper arm to stop the wiper blade from touching the windshield glass. Push the release tab that's under the arm tip and pull the blade towards the spot where the arm bends on the outside. Push the blade retainer into the curve in both sides of the wiper arm, pushing the release button to lock the retainer in the correct position. Start by raising the retainer release on the wiper arm's top so it becomes loose. Next, keep lifting the retainer until it is in a straight, up-and-down position parallel to the rear wiper blade. Move the rear wiper blade so it touches the rear wiper motor output shaft and it will release the blade retainer pivot from the 'U' shaped section. Lift a little on the metal arm in the rear and then slide out the wiper blade through the retainer window. To install, press the retaining tab straight out, placing the rear wiper blade retainer over the U-shaped tip on the wiper until the notch faces down. Pull the rear wiper arm out of its socket, then push the rear wiper blade toward the very end so that its retainer pivots into the U-shaped area and finally push the rubber tab on the retainer down until it locks.
