2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Service and repairs on the oil pan require you to first remove the engine oil dipstick and unhook the negative battery cable. Air the vehicle by putting it on a hoist, then drain all the engine oil. After that, unbolt the bending brace to the transaxle and the dust cover to the transaxle housing, then take off the dust cover to get to the oil pan bolts. Remove the screws that attach the oil pan and pull the oil pan out. To install, make the surfaces clean and run a 1/8 inch thick bead of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II at the gap where the chain case cover meets the rear seal retainer. Mr Reilly, use a proper, clean gasket and fix the pan firmly and to a torque of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After the transaxle and all of its components are back in place, reinstall the dust shield and bending brace, lower the vehicle and install and touch up the oil dipstick. Next, connect the ominous accessible terminal to the battery and oil up the crankcase to make the perfect level.
