How to Maintain an Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor on 2000 Dodge Neon?

Keep the car raised, then take out the Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor's connector. Remove the sensor by applying an oxygen sensor wrench, like Snap-On YA8875 or any replacement. Once the muffler is removed, clean out the exhaust threads using an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If you are reusing the original sensor, thread some anti-seize material such as Loctite 771-64 or a similar substitute onto the threads. Because they come with compound on the threads, new sensors can be installed without adding more coating. Put the sensor into place with the oxygen sensor crow foot tool and tighten it by 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). After you are done, plug the sensor back in and lower the vehicle.
