2000 Jeep Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Ensure Proper A/C Hose Replacement and Maintenance for Suction Hose on 2000 Jeep Cherokee?
A: The new A/C suction hose/line should not have any bends or kinks; a bend must be at least ten times as wide as the pipe diameter and the lines should be far from the exhaust manifold. Because high pressures are involved in the refrigerant system, all connections should be checked for tightness and leaks each year, especially those in the flexible hose refrigerant lines. Let's start by detaching and separating the battery negative wire, then remove the refrigerant from the system. Take the wire harness connector off the high pressure cut-off switch, remove the condenser inlet tube discharge line fitting and put plugs or tape on every opened refrigerant line fitting. Get rid of the screw securing the manifold to the compressor and the nut securing the suction line fitting on the accumulator outlet, then take out the full suction and discharge line from the underside of your vehicle. For installation, take off the tape or plugs from the suction and discharge line manifold as well as the compressor, then join the manifold to the compressor and screw in the mounting screw to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Remove the tape or plugs from the suction line and the accumulator outlet block fittings, place the suction line into the accumulator outlet and toughen its screw to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Put the tape or plugs back into the system refrigerant line fittings on the discharge line and condenser inlet tube, connect the discharge line refrigerant line coupler to the condenser inlet tube and insert the wire harness connector into the high pressure cut-off switch. After that, reattach the negative cable from the battery, empty out the refrigerant system and fill it up again.
