2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radiator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Remove and Reinstall a Radiator on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Prior to taking out the radiator, disconnect the negative battery cable, empty the coolant onto a separate container and make sure the system isn't hot or pressurized as this could result in burns. Only use the right tools for servicing constant tension hose clamps, either 6094 or the Snap-On HPC-20 and always make sure you are wearing safety glasses. Keep track of the stamped letter or number on the constant tension clamps so they can be replaced and remember to mark the rubber air seals between the radiator and body as well as between the radiator and A/C condenser for when you install them again. Then, drain the coolant, free the thermal viscous fan drive from the water pump by rotating the mounting nut in the opposite direction and remove the front grill. Unscrew the two radiator bracket bolts together with the bolts connecting both transmission cooler lines, the electric fan connector, all radiator hoses and the overflow hose and finally the air inlet duct. Carefully remove the radiator from its measured position, not touching the air conditioner condenser or any other components. When installing, check that the rubber air seals are in place, set the radiator into the vehicle, slide the dowels into the rubber grommets and attach the upper and lower hoses with their clamps turned down. Afterward, place the coolant reserve/overflow tank hose, reattach the transmission cooler lines and fasten the radiator bolts securely. Fit the air inlet duct back in place, add the electric fan harness and place the grill. Afterward, mount the fan/viscous fan drive and check for a collision with the fan cover, pour your coolant into the cooling system, link up the battery, switch on the motor and look for signs of leakage.
