2000 Jeep Wrangler Car Speakers Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Upgrade Your Car Speakers in the Instrument Panel and Sound Bar on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before installing the replacement speakers, set aside and take off the battery negative cable. To remove the instrument panel speaker, loosen its screws from the outboard end, lift the bezel's top edge with a trim stick and carefully pry the bottom to free the snap clip retainers. After that, take out the four screws securing the speaker to the instrument panel armature, take the speaker out, pull away the wire harness connector, unplug it and take the speaker out. When you install, repeat the procedure for removing, but use a torque wrench to set the screws tighter: 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) for the mounting screws and 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) for the bezel screws. Disconnect the battery negative cable, unscrew the four screws holding on the speaker grille and speaker to the sound bar, lower the system to see the wire harness connector, take it off with your hands and remove the speaker and grille as a single item. Uninstall the same way and then tighten the mounting screws to 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) when you reinstall. Before handling the sound bar, disconnect the negative battery cable, unscrew the hard top if fitted or lower the soft top and unhook each outboard end flap of the sound bar's trim cover. Raise the left outboard end flap to reach and unplug the wire harness connector. Then, bring the flaps on the outboard ends down to show the mounting screws, remove the two screws securing the sound bar to the sport bar and lift the sound bar off the sport bar. To set up, follow the uninstalling steps guide, putting the screws back in with 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) pressure.
