2000 Jeep Wrangler Pitman Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Pitman Arm on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The first step is to get rid of the cotter pin and nut from the ball stud on the drag link attached to the pitman arm. After that, attach a puller to the pitchman arm and pull out the drag link ball stud. After that, come off the nut and washer from where the steering gear shaft is attached, note where the pitman shaft and pitman arm should go for installation, then take off the pitman arm with Puller C-4150A. After aligning the pitman arm, set it into place on the steering gear shaft and then put the washer and nut, tightening the nut to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). You should attach the drag link ball stud to the pitman arm, set a nut on it at 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) and add a cotter pin.
