2001 Jeep Wrangler Pitman Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Pitman Arm on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First loosen the cotter pin and take out the nut from the drag link next to the pitman arm and then pull the drag link ball stud off the pitman arm. Subsequently, unscrew and keep the nut and washer taken from the steering gear shaft, making notes of their places and pull out the pitman arm by reference with Puller C-4150A. Put the pitman arm on the steering gear shaft, lined up with the castle nut and secure the nut with the washer; tighten the nut to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Then, connect the drag link ball stud to the pitman arm and bolt it with a nut at 81 Nm (60 ft.-lbs.), plus a new cotter pin.
